Career facts about football star Robert Lewandowski

In his more than 20-year career, Robert Lewandowski has not only scored countless goals and won championships, but has also repeatedly set new football records.

Robert Lewandowski has athletic ability from birth. His mother, Iwona, played volleyball, while his father, Krzysztof Lewandowski, was a judo practitioner. Both of his parents were professionals who had previously attended sports academies. Both went on to teach physical education. Unsurprisingly, little Robert also started playing sports at an early age: at the age of eight, he took to the field for the first time, and since then he has been training almost every day.

First clubs in Poland

He began playing football for Partizan Leszno in 1996 after being born in Warsaw. He only stayed there for a year before relocating to Warsaw, where he played junior football for almost seven years. Robert Lewandowski contracted with the pharmaceutical squad of Legia Warsaw in 2005. Nevertheless, it soon became evident that he was gifted enough for the appropriate squad, and he immediately started scoring goals in the second level. Unfortunately, he quickly had an injury that forced him to move again in 2006, this time to Znich Pruski of the third tier, after his contract expired. Robert Lewandowski scored 15 goals there, making him the leading scorer for the first time!

In 2008, the newcomer joined Lech Poznan in the top flight. A year later, he won the Polish Cup with Lech and then the Super Cup. Since then, he hasn’t stopped winning titles!

Lewandowski’s career in Dortmund

Lewandowski’s skill allowed him to establish himself in Europe quite rapidly. He caught the attention of foreign clubs, particularly German clubs. The player was signed to a four-year contract by Borussia Dortmund in 2010. Lewandowski participated in 33 of 34 Bundesliga games during his first campaign, tallying eight goals overall.

He became the third-highest scorer with 22 goals in the 2012 Bundesliga championship with Borussia Dortmund. He helped his club win the double against Bayern Munich in May of the same year by scoring three goals. He became the first player in the history of the Champions League to score all four goals in the semi-finals, setting another record in the 2013 tournament. He scored 20 goals in 2014, making him the Bundesliga’s leading scorer.

In a recent post on his social media account, the 36-year-old actor shows off the results of his slight transformation: instead of a dark brown mane, Lewandowski now has platinum blonde hair. The Polish-born star signed the post: «New season, new hairstyle, same goals.» He also posted a video documenting his transformation.
